ALPALS Hard at Work

Below is a summary of the volunteer roadside cleanups that took place as part of the Don’t Drop It On Alabama PALS 2017 Spring  Cleanups.   It is amazing how wonderful the weather has been each and every weekend since January.  We have fingers and toes crossed the weather will continue to be on our side through the end of June.

    April 29:

    • West Jefferson: a cleanup took place but no information was provided.  The trash was placed in West Jefferson’s Town dumpster along with other items so no specific tonnage is available.
    • Bessemer:  3 volunteers picked up litter from along 3 miles of roadways collecting 0.03 tons.
    • Brighton: 24 volunteers picked up litter from along 3 miles of roadways collecting 1.125 tons.  WIAT CBS 42 did a news story on the cleanup.
    • West Homewood: 28 volunteers picked up litter from along 5 miles of roadways collecting 0.3 tons.
